At the recently held Venture Day Carnival 2022, members of nine student clubs and societies at APU learned and experienced venturing into small businesses as well as sharpening their entrepreneurial skills on campus, by putting up a day full of fun activities such as games, performances, an escape room and a wide variety of food and beverages stalls serving all visitors.
The event took place on 18 June 2022, at the Atrium and Center Point on APU’s campus, bringing together students, parents, staff and the local community, with a focus on three key entrepreneurial elements: Entrepreneurship, Diversification and Modernisation.
As part of the social responsibility and inclusivity engagement, proceeds from the event were channelled to the underprivileged special homes. A total of RM 6,000 was donated to Pertubuhan Dar Asnaf Al-Fateeh Al-Idrisiah, Selangor and Home of Peace, Kuala Lumpur.
The charitable donations were made to the homes by APU student representatives led by Ms Aida Zamnah Zainal Abidin, Senior Lecturer of the School of Computing.
Staff from Enterprise @ APU, a unit for nurturing entrepreneurial ambitions and skillsets on campus, represented by the Director of Research & Enterprise, Prof. Dr. Angelina Yee; and Head of Enterprise & Innovation, Dr Beh Ching Yew, were also present.
APU visiting representatives were made to understand that the donation has helped in providing daily sustenance for the homes.
At the visits, Enterprise @ APU led by Prof. Dr. Angelina Yee was also in discussion on potential entrepreneurial educational programmes for the homes such as the adoption of an e-commerce platform and other digital skillsets. The engagement would be one of the first steps by APU in nurturing future talents, and in advocacy for education access and inclusivity for children of special homes.
