More Than Just A Diploma
APU's Diploma in Accounting is powered by FinTech. This programme comprise modules in Financial Technology (FinTech). Being the first university to offer undergraduate programmes related to FinTech in 2018, APU is the pioneer FinTech educator at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels in Malaysia.
Requirements
Admission Requirements
- 3 Credits in at least 3 subjects at SPM level including Mathematics, with a minimum of a pass in Bahasa Malaysia, English and Sejarah (History);
- 3 Credits (Grade C & above) in at least 3 subjects at IGCSE/O-LEVELS including Mathematics;
- 3 Credits (Grade B & above) in at least 3 subjects in UEC including Mathematics;
- Pass relevant Certificate Programme or its equivalent, with a Credit in Mathematics and a pass in English at SPM level.
A qualification that APU accepts as equivalent to the above.
Pass in English is required at SPM/IGCSE/O-Level or equivalent.
Candidates who have obtained a Pass in Mathematics, but do not have a Credit Pass in Mathematics at SPM/IGCSE or equivalent, need to take a Pre-Requisite Mathematics module before enrolment.
Note: The above entry requirements may differ for specific programmes based on the latest programme standards published by Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA). The qualification and entry requirements for the programmes will be determined based on the "Comparison List of Equivalency of International Qualifications with SPM (O-Levels equivalent) and STPM (A-Levels equivalent)" published by Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).

This APU Diploma in Accounting is designed to provide:

Semester 1
This semester provides students with a strong foundation in business studies through Digital Thinking and Innovation, Academic Research Skills, Managing Business, and Practical IT Skills. Students will develop essential digital, research, innovation, and business competencies that support academic success and prepare them for more specialised studies in subsequent semesters.

Semester 2
This semester strengthens students’ professional and analytical capabilities through the study of Professional Communication, Quantitative Methods, Business Law, and Financial Accounting 1. Students will develop effective communication skills, quantitative reasoning, and an understanding of legal, business and accounting principles that form the foundation for further studies in accounting and related disciplines.

Semester 3
This semester broadens students’ understanding of the business environment through the study of Economics, Marketing, and Statistical Methods. Students will develop analytical and problem-solving skills, apply quantitative techniques to business scenarios, and gain insights into market dynamics and economic principles to support informed decision-making in various business contexts.

Semester 4
This semester strengthens students’ knowledge of financial and cost accounting while developing their understanding of accounting information systems and entrepreneurship. Students will enhance their technical accounting skills, improve their ability to analyse financial information, and understand the role of technology in modern accounting practices.

Semester 5
This semester advances students’ accounting knowledge through Financial Accounting 3, Taxation, Auditing, and Financial Systems and Fintech. Students will apply accounting concepts in practical contexts, develop competencies in financial reporting, taxation, and auditing, and gain exposure to emerging technologies and digital innovations relevant to contemporary accounting practice.

Semester 6
This semester integrates financial accounting, ERP systems, and banking principles to enhance students’ understanding of digital accounting environments and financial institutions. Students will develop practical skills in accounting technologies, ERP applications, financial literacy, and professional decision-making relevant to contemporary business and accounting practices.

** In addition to the above, all students are also required to successfully complete General Studies modules as stipulated by the Malaysian Qualification Agency, as well as fulfill credit requirements for Co-Curricular Activities. -
Further Studies
Upon successful completion of this programme with CGPA of 2.5 & above and fulfilment of requirements for credit transfer, you will be eligible to progress into Level 2 of the following degree programmes offered at APU.

Dual Degree
APU-DMU Dual Degree Programme
Students who are under Bachelor’s Degree Programme will have the option to opt-in for the APU-DMU Dual Degree Scheme. Under this Scheme, students will receive 2 Degree Certificates & Transcripts upon graduation: 1 from Asia Pacific University (APU), Malaysia and 1 from De Montfort University (DMU), UK.
