Asserting complete dominance at SunCTF 2026, APU Forensics and Cyber Security Research Centre - Student Section (FSeC-SS) secured all top three podium positions at Sunway University as Team ABC (Champion), Team Little Shark (1st Runner-Up), and Team Sigma (2nd Runner-Up) navigated high-pressure Jeopardy-style challenges to claim ultimate victory.

In a relentless arena where seconds dictated rankings and every keystroke carried the weight of victory, SunCTF 2026 convened the nation’s elite cyber security minds for a trial of pure technical intellect, strategic nerve, and unyielding fortitude.
Organised by the Sunway Cybersecurity Club (CSC), the inaugural flagship hackathon unfolded on 6 September 2026 within the Sir Jeffrey Cheah Hall at Sunway University, setting the stage for an intense clash of digital strategy.
At SunCTF 2026, the Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) Forensics and Cyber Security Research Centre - Student Section (FSeC-SS) members achieved a breathtaking display of technical supremacy, locking down every single podium position with a back-to-back 1-2-3 sweep.
Earlier, APU FSeC-SS members executed an ironclad podium sweep at the 3rd UTAR-FICT Intervarsity CTF Challenge 2026 in Kampar, Perak; where team B4by_Sh4rk conquered first place, closely pursued by Little White Group as first runner-up and 2N2 as second runner-up.
Carrying that invincible momentum straight into SunCTF 2026, the members proved their dominance was no flash in the pan as they showcased their technical supremacy to once again lock down every single podium position.
The Jeopardy-style battlefield pushed competitors to their absolute limits across web exploitation, cryptography, binary exploitation, reverse engineering, digital forensics, OSINT, hardware security, and complex miscellaneous challenges.
A volatile dynamic scoring mechanism — where point values decayed as rival teams breached solutions, alongside coveted ‘first blood’ speed bonuses — transformed the room into a pressure cooker.
Backed by industry titans including FIRMUS, LGMS, Glocomp Systems, Sunway Lagoon, Sunway Lost World of Tambun, iTOR, Sunway Pyramid Ice, RE:HACK, and MHHC, the event dangled a prize pool exceeding RM20,000, drawing battle-tested talents from across Malaysia.
This historic triumph was anchored by APU FSEC-SS club advisors Assistant Professor Nor Azlina Abd Rahman and Ms Noris Ismail, whose steady counsel tempered student anxiety into lethal focus.
Strategic mentorship from CTF lecturer Mr Shahab Alizadeh proved equally vital, arming participants with the sharp investigative edge required to outmanoeuvre the competition.
APU continues to champion high-stakes initiatives of this calibre, recognising their power to forge resilient, battle-ready cybersecurity professionals.
Seizing the ultimate crown, team ABC, comprising Tong Yi Xin, Foo Guo Kai, Ding Chong Sheng, and Chew Wei Han described their victory as an exhilarating, unforgettable campaign.
The volatile decay-scoring system turned every minute into a desperate sprint, as teams clashed in a mad dash for early solve bonuses on fresh challenges.
Pushing their analytical limits, the team deployed cutting-edge AI frameworks to accelerate data processing alongside gruelling, hands-on forensics work.
Exhausting hours of methodical investigation paid off when the final scoreboard revealed their total control of first place.
Capturing 1st Runner-Up, team Little Shark featuring Ivan Choong Chee Ern, Ku Min Tzi, Tan Jie Sheng, and Wong Yong Sin fought through an edge-of-your-seat thriller.
Confronting early-solve bonus points for the first time, they overhauled their customary playstyle to prioritise high-yield targets under immense time pressure.
Crisis struck when Wave 3 dropped simultaneously with a complete scoreboard blackout, plunging the final hour into total dark-room tension.
Blind to their rivals’ movements, the team kept their composure and cracked a critical miscellaneous exploit in the final ten minutes, securing second place on the podium.
Claiming 2nd Runner-Up, team Sigma consisting of Ong Ping Xiang, Emily Koh Poh Yee, Mandev Singh Phandal Balvindar Singh, and Kishanlal Panicker celebrated a monumental milestone.
Competing side-by-side since their sophomore year, podium glory had repeatedly slipped through their fingers in past tournaments.
By asserting absolute dominance across back-to-back intervarsity competitions, APU’s cyber security students have sent an unmistakable message across the nation’s tech landscape.
