Lau Zhi Xuan, a First-Class Accounting and Finance graduate from APU who passed the ACCA Advanced Taxation (Malaysia) variant exam with a Competency-Proving Grade and winner of the 2024 ACCA Accelerate Book Prize, completed her degree on 15 November 2025 and is now preparing for her final ACCA paper, aiming to become an ACCA Affiliate in 2026.

Lau Zhi Xuan, a First-Class Accounting and Finance graduate from Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU), has passed the ACCA Advanced Taxation (Malaysia) variant exam with a Competency-Proving Grade. 

An APU-ACCA Accelerate Scheme participant and winner of the 2024 Accelerate Book Prize, she received her degree on 15 November 2025 and is now preparing for her final ACCA module, aiming to become an ACCA Affiliate in 2026.

Reflecting on her achievement, Zhi Xuan shared, “Studying taxation has always fascinated me, and this result is a reminder that consistency and passion truly pay off. I am grateful for the support from my lecturers and peers at APU.”

A recent First-Class graduate of the Bachelor of Accounting and Finance (Hons) specialising in Taxation, Zhi Xuan continues to demonstrate exceptional academic ability. 

Fresh from receiving her scroll at APU’s Convocation Ceremony on 15 November 2025, she has added another milestone by passing the ACCA Advanced Taxation (Malaysia) variant optional paper with a Competency-Proving Grade in the September 2025 exam sitting.

Her success is rooted in dedication and the strong foundation built through the APU-ACCA Accelerate Scheme, which she joined in 2023. 

The scheme granted her exemptions from all nine Applied Knowledge and Skills papers, allowing her to focus directly on the more demanding professional-level modules. 

Zhi Xuan’s studies in APU’s BA (Hons) in Accounting and Finance programme strengthened her technical knowledge, especially in Malaysian taxation. 

“APU gave me the confidence and clarity to approach professional exams with the right mindset,” she added.

Shaping a Future ACCA Professional

In December 2024, her hard work was recognised when she received the APU ACCA Accelerate Book Prize Award 2024 from ACCA Malaysia and APU.

As the Head School of Accounting and Finance (SoAF), Professor Dr Chong Lee Lee expressed her pride in Zhi Xuan’s achievement.

“Zhi Xuan embodies the academic excellence and professional readiness we aim to nurture at SoAF. 

“Her resilience, curiosity, and commitment to mastering Malaysian taxation are truly inspiring. We are proud of her growth and confident that she will continue to excel as she advances towards ACCA Affiliateship.”

Mr Bryan Chan Loke Teng, Lecturer at SoAF, also commented that Zhi Xuan exemplifies how dedication, curiosity, and perseverance can lead to outstanding academic achievements.

With a First-Class degree now in hand, Zhi Xuan is preparing to complete her final ACCA optional module in 2026.
