Asia Pacific Language Centre (APLC), specialist language centre of Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU), once again illuminated the APU campus with its highly anticipated 16th annual APLC Grand Deepavali Celebration.
The event brought together students, staff, and guests for a spectacular celebration rooted in rhythm, colour and community spirit.
For more than a decade, the APLC Grand Deepavali Celebration has remained one of the centre’s most cherished traditions; and this year’s celebration continued that legacy with renewed energy and inclusivity.
Performances that lit up the Event

The event unfolded with a colourful range of cultural and contemporary showcases.

Graceful Bharatanatyam pieces highlighted Deepavali’s cultural richness, captivating the audience with their elegance and expressive storytelling.

Next, dynamic dhol performances added a thunderous rhythm that energised the entire auditorium, creating an atmosphere filled with excitement and festive spirit.

On top of that, a stunning modern Indian dance presented by the Indian Culture Youth Society at APU amplified the festive mood with vibrant choreography and compelling stage presence.

One of the highlights of the event was the dance battle, where APLC students from diverse countries came together to express the spirit of Deepavali through movement, rhythm and creativity.
A Show-Stealing Surprise from the Lecturers

In one of the most unforgettable moments of the event, the APLC lecturers surprised the audience with an impromptu Bollywood dance followed by a lively runway walk.
The surprise performance captured the warmth, camaraderie, and family-like spirit that defines APLC, to which it became one of the most talked-about highlights of the event.
Shining bright

Ms Sharen Kaur (Senior Manager, APLC at APU) emphasised that the students and lecturers did not just perform; they celebrated fearlessly, to which that is what makes APLC truly special.
“We learn with purpose, laugh with passion, and shine together; for all, studies and no fun would be far too dull for us.”
From the point of view of the event itself, Ms Haryati Mohd Amran How (Senior Lecturer, APLC at APU) described the event as a beautiful blend of culture, creativity, and community that reflects APLC’s global heartbeat, adding that seeing the joy on students’ faces was the event’s greatest reward.
Acknowledging the efforts behind the event, Ms Nur Nazrin Hadia Zakaria (Lecturer, APLC at APU) highlighted that the event was a collective success built on teamwork, energy, and shared festive spirit.
The APLC Grand Deepavali Celebration once again reaffirmed the centre’s belief that education extends beyond textbooks.
Through vibrant cultural events like this, students gain confidence, cultivate creativity, and build meaningful bonds within a warm, supportive community.
As the lights dimmed on this year’s unforgettable event, anticipation for the APLC Grand Deepavali Celebration 2026 has already begun, promising yet another radiant celebration of culture, unity and artistic expression.
