APU’s SoMAD Students Shine Bright at the Student Kancil x sCoolers Awards 2024!

The Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) once again demonstrated its creative excellence as students from the School of Media, Arts and Design (SoMAD) clinched an impressive 3 bronze awards and 6 merit awards at the prestigious Student Kancil x sCoolers Awards 2024.

APU students, along with their lecturers and mentors, celebrated their success at the prestigious Student Kancil x sCoolers Awards 2024, where they joined hands to win 3 bronze awards and 6 merit awards.


This extraordinary achievement is a testament to the exceptional talent and dedication of APU students and faculty members, who continue to prove their mettle in Malaysia's vibrant design and advertising landscape. 

Held on 22 November 2024 at EX8, Subang, the award ceremony served as a premier platform celebrating the innovative and artistic works of Malaysia’s budding creative minds. Organised by the Association of Accredited Advertising Agents Malaysia (4As), the competition welcomed entries of student works produced between 12 November 2023 to 13 November 2024. 

“SoMAD at APU participated enthusiastically, submitting 24 entries, and we are thrilled to achieve such significant success, bringing home 3 bronze and 6 merit awards,” said Mr Chua Soo Han, a SoMAD lecturer who mentored the participants. 

This year, a total of 11 SoMAD students, representing diverse programmes and projects, were honoured with accolades that celebrated their expertise, innovation, and creativity in various categories. Here's the list of winners:

"Replate," an app designed to combat food waste within communities, was created by Daffa Adrikal, a Master of Arts in Design Innovation Management student, under the guidance of SoMAD lecturers Mr Chua Soo Han and Mr Mohd Idzuan Othman. The project proudly clinched a bronze award.

"Meowgu", a unique piece of furniture designed for both humans and cats, crafted using micronised oil palm fibres mixed with polylactic acid (PLA), was created by Teh Yu Ting under the guidance of Mr Saifullizan Abdul Wahab. The project proudly clinched a merit award.
