On July 18, 2024, a group of approximately 40 students from the School of Computing (SoC) at Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) embarked on an enlightening field visit to the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) in Cyberjaya.
The visit was led by Assistant Professor Ts Dr Maythem Kamal Abbas Al-Adilee and aimed to provide students with a firsthand look at the intersection of academia and industry in the rapidly advancing Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector.
This initiative is part of SoC’s ongoing commitment to bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world industry practices. According to Dr Maythem, the visit was carefully curated to achieve specific learning objectives.
“Our interest in MDEC stemmed from its renowned expertise in Digital Technology. As a leader in the field, MDEC's work in Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Applications represents the cutting edge of technology—a fitting platform for our students to learn and grow,” he explained.
The students were welcomed at MDEC’s Bunga Raya Auditorium, where they were introduced to the company’s pivotal role in shaping Malaysia’s digital economy. The visit featured a series of insightful presentations focused on Digital Transformation and AI Applications, showcasing how these technologies are implemented in real-world scenarios.
