APU Alumni Inspires Students During Oracle Malaysia Visit

This industrial visit featured a welcoming overview from Managing Director Mr. Fitri Abdullah, a deep dive into the Oracle Academy by Mr. James Kim, and insights into Oracle NetSuite by APU alumnus Joel Wong; where students benefited from interactive presentations, hands-on workshops, and networking opportunities to gain a clear understanding.

On 1st August 2024, a dynamic group of 36 students and 3 lecturers from Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation’s (APU) School of Technology (SoT), led by Senior Lecturer Ms. Tham Hoong Ching, visited Oracle Corporation Sdn. Bhd. or Oracle Corporation Malaysia for an eye-opening experience.

The day kicked off with a warm welcome from Mr. Fitri Abdullah, Managing Director of Oracle Malaysia, who provided an engaging overview of the company’s strategic goals and its impact on technology and innovation.

Next, Mr. James Kim gave an in-depth look at the Oracle Academy, highlighting its role in preparing students and educators with essential tech skills and resources.

The visit wrapped up with a compelling presentation by Joel Wong, Oracle’s Country Channel Sales Manager and APU alumnus.

Joel’s talk on Oracle NetSuite offered valuable insights into how this platform enhances business operations and drives growth.

The trip proved highly beneficial, deepening students’ understanding of Oracle’s technologies and inspiring them about the future of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Cloud Computing.

Joel Wong, Oracle’s Country Channel Sales Manager, and an alumnus of APU, provided an insightful overview of NetSuite’s features and benefits, emphasizing its significance in streamlining business operations and driving growth.


Ahmed Saleh Mohsen Mabkhot Al-Shadadi found the visit highly engaging, praising the speakers for their clear explanations about the industry.

Lian Tian Heng noted the crucial role of presentation skills, highlighting how interactive presentations can make ideas more accessible and engaging for the audience.

Jayson Onchari Omache was particularly excited about the hands-on workshops, real-world AI projects, and Oracle’s company culture.

He appreciated the networking opportunities and found the sales executive's briefing on enterprise systems especially enlightening.

“The presentation by the APU alumnus gave us a solid grasp of managing large-scale operations and the critical role of integration and scalability in ERP systems, showing how they connect various departments in both small and large businesses,” he said.
