On 9th August 2024, a group comprising four leaders from APU’s Student Representative Council (SRC)—Wong Yu Qin, Ted Muhindi Mbugua, Abdul Rahman, and Christopher Lee Jun Liang—officially received an RM40,000 grant under PayNet’s “Programme Digital Campus 3.0”, at its headquarters in Menara Southpoint, Mid Valley City. The team had successfully pitched their initiative to raise awareness of the digital campus concept, impressing the PayNet panel.
PayNet, Malaysia's national payments network and a key partner in nurturing future financial innovators at APU, serves as a central infrastructure provider for the nation's financial markets.
The team was supported by their mentors from the School of Business (SoB): Associate Professor Dr Rohana Sham, Senior Lecturer Ts Dr Noraini Ahmad, and Ms Hashanna Abdul Halim, Assistant Manager of Student Affairs.
The grant will be used towards funding a number of student activities, including the International Cultural Night, International Colour Run, Island Night, and the Arabian Night event—all aimed at fostering a cashless environment at APU.
PayNet's Cashless Campus programme seeks to create a more efficient, secure, and modern campus experience through the adoption of digital financial technologies.
