Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) came alive with vibrant colours, melodies, and rhythms as it celebrated World Cultural Diversity Day on 21st May 2024.

Organised by Sustainability Future Fusion (SFF), Camerata dell’ Arte of Kuala Lumpur, and the Kuala Lumpur Tourism Stakeholders Association, the celebration underscored the unity in diversity, bringing together students and performers from different parts of the globe to share their unique traditions and customs.

Key contributors of the event included:

  2. Khoo Lay Yang, President of SFF
  3. Kaung Thant, Vice President of SFF
  4. Nor Syazathirah Ardini Shahril Aza, Vice Secretary of SFF
  5. Shams Shehryar, Leader of Art Direction Team (ADT)
  6. The School of Business (SoB) at APU


The event began with captivating Malaysian and Indonesian cultural presentations, where hobby guitarists Rick Ong and Autilig Cheong delighted the audience with a melodic medley of cultural songs.

A standout moment was the Mupun Tauh group’s traditional dance from Sarawak, featuring the Kelabit (Orang Ulu) and accompanied by the live Sape’, a traditional Borneo lute, showcasing Sarawak’s rich heritage.

Adding to the international flair, the event featured performances from Egypt, Seychelles, Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, Russia, and Uzbekistan.


Highlights included traditional Chinese music by APU Music Club members, a special performance by Seng Zuo Huo, and a heartwarming bamboo dance by children from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Cambodia.

The event concluded with a Spanish Flamenco guitar medley by TY Mok and a spectacular 12-piece string orchestra performance.


As the final notes faded and performers took their bows, the spirit of unity resonated through APU, reminding everyone that despite our differences, we are all part of a global family connected by shared humanity and cultural heritage.
