APU’s School of Engineering (SoE) reaches new heights with prestigious Collaborative Research in Engineering, Science, and Technology (CREST) Grant of RM213,500 to embark on a ground-breaking research project, titled ‘Development and Optimisation of an Autonomous Waterless Solar Panel Cleaning System Using Intelligent Robotics’ with AmSolar Sdn. Bhd.
The Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation’s (APU) School of Engineering (SoE) has once again made significant strides in its research endeavours.
In mid-October 2024, APU’s SoE secured a prestigious Collaborative Research in Engineering, Science, and Technology (CREST) Grant of RM213,500 to embark on a ground-breaking project with AmSolar Sdn. Bhd.
The collaborative research project, titled ‘Development and Optimisation of an Autonomous Waterless Solar Panel Cleaning System Using Intelligent Robotics’, aims to revolutionise solar panel maintenance by developing innovative robotic solutions.
This ground-breaking technology will significantly reduce water consumption and enhance the efficiency of solar panels, contributing to a more sustainable future.
A Bright Future with Solar Innovation Strategic Partnership
The partnership between APU and AmSolar brings together a team of experts to tackle this pressing challenge.
APU’s dedicated research team, led by Ir Ts Dr Alexander Chee Hon Cheong, along with Dr Lian Wen Xun, Ir Eur Ing Ts Dr Lau Chee Yong, Assoc Prof Ir Dr Sivakumar Sivanesan (Head of SoE), and Ir Ts Dr Denesh Sooriamoorthy, will work closely with Mr. Weng Leong Skip Ng (CEO of AmSolar Sdn. Bhd.) and Ms Michelle Ng to bring this vision to life.
AmSolar recently visited APU’s state-of-the-art facilities to witness first-hand the progress of the project.
The research team showcased their innovative prototypes and discussed the potential impact of the autonomous solar panel cleaning system.
“This collaboration demonstrates APU’s commitment to fostering industry partnerships and driving technological advancements.
“As the project progresses, APU’s SoE, in partnership with AmSolar, is poised to make a substantial contribution to the global energy landscape,” said Dr Alexander.
This achievement solidifies APU’s position as a leading institution in engineering education and research, inspiring future generations of innovators to address the world’s most pressing challenges.
