Joshua Emmanuel KC Sathasivam, a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Computer Science (Cyber Security) student from the School of Technology (SoT) at Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU), has secured an impressive 1st Runner-Up position in Round 1 of the esteemed Cisco NetRider APJC Competition 2025.

Organised by Cisco, a globally renowned American technology giant, the Cisco NetRider Competition is a highly prestigious platform that tests participants’ knowledge and capabilities in networking concepts, problem-solving, and hands-on technical skills. 

Competing with the use of Cisco technologies, participants are required to demonstrate both theoretical understanding and practical proficiency.

The Malaysia leg of Round 1 was held on 9 April 2025, where Joshua distinguished himself among the ten APU students who participated in this rigorous competition. His achievement was guided and supported by dedicated academics from SoT – Dr Kamalakannan Machap, Mr Yogeswaran Nathan, and Mr Joshua Samual. 

This accomplishment not only reflects Joshua’s personal dedication and technical excellence but also highlights the exceptional mentorship provided by APU’s Cisco Networking Academy.

Advancing to the Finals: Representing Malaysia on the Global Stage

Joshua’s remarkable performance in Round 1 earned him a coveted place in the Final Round of the competition, which took place on 7 May 2025. In this stage, he represented Malaysia, competing against some of the brightest minds from across the Asia Pacific, Japan, and China (APJC) region. 

His participation in the Final Round demonstrates his ability to apply advanced skills and knowledge to solve complex challenges, further showcasing the high calibre of talent nurtured at APU.
