APU’s 2025 Staff Bowling Tournament 1.0 saw 48 staff compete among 12 teams, where Team FFSA claimed victory in the Best Team category, with individual honours awarded to standout players Mr Saifullizan and Ms Fatin Hazwani in the Best Man and Best Woman categories respectively.

On 23rd September 2025, the Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) community came together for a fun-filled day at the 2025 Annual Staff Bowling Tournament 1.0, held at Ampang Superbowl, Summit USJ, Petaling Jaya, Selangor.
The lively event brought together 48 staff members, divided into 12 creatively named teams, in a spirited display of camaraderie, competition, and community.
The participating teams included: Team Alleycats, Fantastic 4, Spartans, The Sick One, Spare Bears, FFSA, Ike’s Warriors, Bowling Chill, Kingpins, Thunder Bowl, Gutterly Ridiculous, and Somadians — each bringing their A-game to the lanes.

The tournament featured three main categories, Best Team, Best Men, and Best Women.

In the Best Team category, Team FFSA, comprising Ms Fatin Hazwani, Ms Fatin Afiqah Abang Jalani, Mr Muhammad Salleh Ahmad Nafiah, and Mr Azrul Ibrahim, bowled their way to victory, dethroning last year’s champions, Team Somadians.

The runner-up team, Somadians, this time around included Mr Saifullizan Abdul Wahab, Mr Edwin Pio Rufus Samiraj, Ts Stefanie Quah Li Jin, and Ms Sadina Abd Samad.

Taking third place was Team Alleycats, featuring Prof Ir EUR ING Dr Vinesh Thiruchelvam, Ms Wendy Tham, Dr Teh Choon Jin, and T. Tulasi Sathyabama Appalasamy.
In the Best Men category, the top performers were Mr Saifullizan (Team Somadians), Prof Vinesh (Team Alleycats), and Mr Kumaresu Murugasu @ Murugesi (Team Kingpins).
For the Best Women category, the honours went to Ms Fatin Hazwani (Team FFSA), Ms Nur Amalina Jamaludin (Team Gutterly Ridiculous), and Ms Wendy Tham (Team Alleycats).

Prof Vinesh, who also participated as part of Team Alleycats, shared his thoughts on the event’s success as this tournament was not just about winning or high scores, but it was about bringing our staff together in a relaxed, inclusive, and enjoyable setting.
“Events like this foster stronger relationships across departments, promote wellness, and remind us that APU’s strength lies in our sense of staff community engagement.
“I am proud of everyone who participated and helped make the event so memorable. Special appreciation goes to our Sports Development Assistant Manager, Mr Ahmad Mohammad from the Student Affairs Department, for coordinating the bowling event.
“At APU, we believe that a healthy work culture includes social engagements like this. I look forward to seeing this tournament grow even bigger. Watch out for Tournament 2.0!”.
Congratulations to all winners and participants for making it a day to remember!
