
Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) hosted the highly anticipated FinTech Day 2025, a two-day event held from 7th to 8th July 2025.
The event was designed to equip students with exposure to the latest innovations, challenges, and career opportunities in financial technology (FinTech).
The event featured competitive competitions and challenges, educational workshops, and networking opportunities, while also celebrating the official launch of APU’s new Bachelor of Financial Technology (Honours) degree programme.
Distinguished guests, including Mr Marc Fong, Vice President of the FinTech Association of Malaysia (FAOM), graced the event, underlining its importance in bridging academia and industry.
Day One: Competitions and Challenges spark Innovation in FinTech

The first day commenced with the FinTech Ideathon, a dynamic problem-solving competition where 55 students showcased their creativity by developing innovative fintech solutions.


Complementing the FinTech Ideathon was the Springboard@Campus Challenge, a gamified investment simulation that immersed students in real-world decision-making processes.

Day Two: Launch of FinTech Degree Programme and Industry Engagement

The second day of the event started with the official launch of the Bachelor of Financial Technology (Honours) degree programme.


Following the launch, students attended FinTech themed forum sessions featuring industry leaders who discussed pressing topics such as digital banking, blockchain innovation, investment technology, and regulatory transformation.
These sessions gave students unique insights into industry trends, fostering curiosity and preparing them for the challenges of tomorrow’s financial sector.

Adding to the experience, the industry exhibition booths created a vibrant networking space where students connected with representatives from various FinTech partners.

Reflections on APU FinTech Day 2025
APU FinTech Day 2025 was a transformative gathering, uniting industry leaders, experts, and students to explore the future of FinTech, which, according to Assoc Prof Dr Chong Lee Lee (Head, School of Accounting and Finance at APU), successfully raised awareness among the APU student community about the importance of FinTech in today’s rapidly evolving financial landscape and also motivated them to consider it as a specialised pathway for their academic and professional growth.
