A delegation of 35 students from Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation’s (APU) School of Accounting and Finance (SoAF) visited KPMG Tower in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

Accompanied by SoAF Senior Lecturers, Ms Phuah Eng Sze and Mr Bryan Chan Loke Teng, the industrial visit offered students a unique opportunity to observe the operations of one of the Big 4 accounting firms and explore career pathways in the field.

KPMG, a multinational professional services firm headquartered in the United Kingdom, operates across 142 countries and territories with over 275,000 partners and staff worldwide.

In Malaysia, the firm has a history dating back to 1928, employing more than 2,300 staff across eight offices, serving clients across business, government, and non-profit sectors.

With a focus on industry-specific knowledge and a commitment to service excellence, KPMG Malaysia not only supports its clients but also contributes positively to the wider community through voluntary and CSR initiatives.

During the visit, students were welcomed by Ms Fione Ho, Director of People, Performance & Culture, and the Talent Recruitment team, who introduced KPMG’s work culture, staff benefits, and career opportunities.

Students also had the privilege of hearing from Mr Eric Ong Beng Seng, Chief Operating Officer and Audit Partner, whose sharing of professional experiences and insights left a lasting impression.

The visit also marked a celebratory moment, as KPMG awarded the ‘KPMG Young Star Scholarship 2025’ to two APU Year Two students, Leang Man Yung and Keh Er Qian.

Valued at up to RM10,000, the scholarship includes guaranteed internship and job placement upon graduation, alongside exclusive access to KPMG’s internal programmes, CSR initiatives, and development opportunities.

The students found the experience inspiring and informative, gaining practical knowledge of the firm’s culture, internship pathways, and career prospects.

Many appreciated the chance to engage directly with recruiters and industry professionals, while witnessing firsthand the professionalism and dedication that define KPMG Malaysia.

“The visit to KPMG Malaysia was an invaluable experience for SoAF students. It gave them a firsthand look at how a top accounting firm operates, while providing inspiration and guidance for their future careers in accounting and finance,” said Ms Eng Sze.

This visit not only enriched students’ learning experiences but also strengthened the collaboration between APU and KPMG, paving the way for future opportunities and ongoing engagement with one of the world’s leading accounting firms.
