On 15 August 2014, APU students and staff visited the Maa-Medicare Kidney Charity Fund situated at Jalan Sg Besi in conjunction with the project “The Little You Do Weighs a Lot” . This project, initiated by the APU Volunteer & Community Service Group, aimed to sell 1333 notebooks for RM10 each, to assist MAA MEDICARE Kidney Charity Fund in purchasing a weighing machine.


The mission to sell 1,333 notebooks for RM10 was not achieved, but the students and staff managed to raise RM 2,250. The funds were used to purchase two (2) TV sets that have been placed at the center in Sungai Besi. Staff and 57 patients from the centre were present to witness the tagging ceremony. APU representatives comprised of Ms. Nancy, Ms. Vinothini, Ms. Aida, Ms, Nurul, Ms. Cynthia and the representatives of the committee service students.

In conjunction with the visit, there was also a short tour around the dialysis center and a brief history given by the head nurse of the center. Patients and staff were very pleased with the new available facility.
