APU’s Accounting and Finance Club (AFC) visited BDO Malaysia, where students gained insights into the firm’s operations, workplace culture, and career pathways through sharing sessions, an office tour, and a Q&A, learning about BDO’s focus on ethics, technology, CSR, and employee well-being.

The Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation’s (APU) Accounting and Finance Club (AFC) successfully organised an insightful industrial visit to BDO Malaysia on 23 October 2025, giving members an up-close look at the professional practices of one of the world’s leading accounting and advisory firms.
Designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world experience, the visit helped 31 students, accompanied by their AFC Advisor Mr Kannan Asokan, gain a clearer understanding of the diverse career pathways within the accounting and finance profession.
A key highlight of the day was an engaging sharing session with BDO managers and associates, who spoke candidly about their career journeys, workplace culture, and day-to-day responsibilities.
They also underscored the importance of professional ethics, continuous learning, and strong analytical skills in an increasingly dynamic business landscape.
Participants were then taken on an office tour, where they observed BDO’s collaborative working environment and gained first-hand insight into the firm’s team-centred culture.
The visit concluded with an interactive Q&A session, giving students the opportunity to ask career-related questions and seek advice on internships and pathways towards professional qualifications.

Accounting Technology student Muhammad Zeeshaan Mauderbacus described the visit as a highly enriching experience.
“It gave me a clearer understanding of how professional accounting firms operate, particularly in areas such as audit, advisory, and risk management.
“Seeing how technology is integrated into their processes was especially insightful and closely aligned with my programme. The visit strengthened my interest in pursuing a career in the professional services sector.”
Accounting and Finance student Mohamad Ismail Shariff said it was a great opportunity to speak with the human resource team, who offered insights into the firm’s global standing as the world’s fifth-largest accounting network.
“Their dedication to employee well-being was also evident — with year-end celebrations, movie nights, and facilities like a gym and swimming pool that promote work–life balance.
“It was truly a rewarding experience as I gained a deeper understanding of the services they offer.”
AFC President and Accounting and Finance student Khizar Hameed concluded that the visit was both productive and enlightening.
“We learnt about BDO’s service lines, their position as a top global firm, and their strong presence in the Malaysian market.
“The session also highlighted their emphasis on people development and relationship-building, which was evident throughout the visit. We deeply appreciate the hospitality and insights shared by Nayli Sharif, Wan Izreen Nurina, and the BDO team.”
