
The School of Marketing and Management (SoMM) at Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) embarked on an enriching industrial visit to Mamee Mega Factory and Mamee Jonker House on 17th April 2025.
Led by Ms Harjinder Kaur (Senior Lecturer and IAP Coordinator, SoMM at APU), the visit provided a vibrant platform for students from undergraduate and postgraduate programmes to connect theory with real-world practices in the fast-moving consumer goods industry.
Activity 1: Behind the Scenes at Mamee Mega Factory

The visit kicked off with an insightful factory tour conducted by Ms Khairun Nisa Jumali and Ms Michelle Ng Qi Min, Administration team at Mamee.
Students were introduced to the end-to-end manufacturing process of Mamee’s iconic snack products, including the transformation of raw ingredients into packaged snacks ready for distribution.
On top of that, students observed the use of advanced production machinery and stringent hygiene and quality control practices.
This provided them with a firsthand understanding of industrial operations and the precision involved in large-scale food manufacturing.
Also, Mamee’s emphasis on innovation and sustainability, such as the use of solar energy and rainwater harvesting, impressed many students and gave them a deeper appreciation for sustainable production.
Activity 2: Creative Exploration at Mamee Jonker House

The next phase of the visit took place at the vibrant Mamee Jonker House, nestled in the heart of the iconic Jonker Street.

Here, students engaged in a custom Mamee noodle cup workshop, allowing them to explore flavor profiles and ingredient combinations while exercising creativity and collaboration.

Students also enjoyed a culinary experience at the Mamee Cafe, sampling inventive dishes crafted from Mamee noodles.

Additionally, students received curated goodie bags filled with Mamee products, adding a memorable touch to the experience.
This segment of the visit reinforced the versatility of Mamee’s product line and the importance of brand innovation in engaging modern consumers.

Student Perspectives

Teng Chun Hong, a student from Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Marketing Management with a specialism in Digital Marketing, found the visit fun and insightful, highlighting the impressive complexity of Mamee’s manufacturing process and the brand’s innovative approach to delighting consumers.
Morgan Mal Lee Ann, a student from Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Media and Communication Studies, found the visit fun and insightful as well, particularly appreciating the transparency in Mamee’s production process and the responsible handling of imperfect products.
Shawn Rachid Michel Brioche, a student from Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Human Resource Management, especially enjoyed the creative experience of designing custom cup noodles at Mamee Jonker House, praising Mamee’s unique blend of tradition, innovation, and interactivity that made the visit truly memorable.
Moldagaliyev Arman, a student from Masters in Global Marketing Management, found the visit highly insightful, emphasising how Mamee’s use of advanced technology and strict quality standards has contributed to its strong industry reputation.
Reflections on the Industrial Visit

Ms Harjinder expressed her appreciation for Mamee’s warm hospitality and the educational value the visit brought to the students.
