Empowering Future Leaders: APU Delegates Illuminate KPR College with Knowledge Transfer Programme

The Knowledge Transfer Programme (KTP) served as a platform for strengthening academic ties, advancing joint research projects, and inspiring the next generation of female leaders in entrepreneurship, technology, and finance.

From 29th July to 2nd August 2024, a significant academic collaboration unfolded between Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) and KPR College of Arts, Science, and Research.

The ‘Knowledge Transfer Programme (KTP)’ hosted by KPR College located in Coimbatore, India brought together a distinguished delegation from APU, showcasing a blend of expertise across various disciplines, and fostering a dynamic exchange of knowledge.

Led by Ms Kavitha Arunasalam, Senior Lecturer at the School of Accounting and Finance (SoAF) representing Girls in Financial Technology (GIFT) the team included prominent figures from the university’s diverse schools.

Assistant Professor Ts Dr Vinesha Selvarajah from the School of Technology (SoT) representing Girls in Resilience and Overall Wellbeing; Assistant Professor Ir Eur Ing Ts Dr Harvin Kaur Gurchran Singh from the School of Engineering (SoE) representing Girls in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics; and Ms Iman Danish Sha Mohd. Suhaimi Akbar, from the School of Foundation (SoF) representing Girls in Entrepreneurship, Management and Sustainability; all contributed their specialised knowledge to this programme.

Their mission was twofold: to advance the academic and research relationship between APU and KPR College and to inspire and to equip female students with insights into emerging fields within Accounting, Business, and Cybersecurity.

Ts Dr Vinesha led a highly engaging session on Cybersecurity, with a particular emphasis on the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the field.

Her workshop on ‘Ethical Hacking’ provided practical, hands-on experience, offering students a glimpse into the real-world applications and challenges of cybersecurity.

Ir Eur Ing Ts Dr Harvin Kaur’s sessions focused on the ‘Internet of Things (IoT)’. She explored various aspects of IoT, including APIs, Functional Blocks, and IoT-Enabling Technologies.

Her teachings illuminated the interconnected nature of modern technology and its potential impact on future innovations.

Ms Kavitha’s delivered impactful sessions on ‘Digital Accounting and Finance’, alongside ‘Forensic Accounting’.

Her expertise highlighted the transformative effects of digital advancements in accounting practices and the growing importance of forensic accounting in maintaining financial integrity.

Ms Iman Danish’s sessions covered crucial topics in ‘Entrepreneurship and Management’.

She guided students through transitioning from campus life to corporate environments, focusing on skills such as pitching and networking, which are essential for future business leaders.

Adding to the vibrancy of the programme were three postgraduate students from APU: Radebe Noluthando Lungile Buyisile, Gopika Shaji, and Sara Mohamed Omer Abdalla.

Radebe conducted a session on International Accounting Standards for undergraduate students of KPR, mentored by Ms Kavitha while Sara and Gopika handled few sessions for Cybersecurity Programme and Ethical Hacking mentored by Dr Vinesha.

These students participated actively in the sessions and workshops, gaining valuable experience under the mentorship of their faculty members.

Their involvement not only enriched their personal learning but also fostered a deeper understanding of the practical applications of their studies.

The KTP programme was a testament to the robust partnership between APU and KPR College.

It served as a platform for strengthening academic ties, advancing joint research projects, and inspiring the next generation of female leaders in entrepreneurship, technology, and finance.

The programme also includes session with Women Empowerment Cell of KPR College where our delegates conducted session mainly aiming at motivating female students in pursuing their ambition and further education.

By sharing their expertise and engaging directly with students, the APU delegates played a crucial role in shaping the educational landscape and empowering future professionals to excel in rapidly evolving fields.

This initiative underscores the commitment of both institutions to fostering international collaboration and driving forward educational excellence.

The insights gained and relationships forged during this programme promise to have a lasting impact on the participants and the broader academic community.
