On 25 July 2025, the Asia Pacific Language Centre (APLC) — the English language powerhouse under the Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) — staged a dazzling student performance, Mr & Ms APLC 2025

Far from being an ordinary pageant, it was a spirited celebration of language, culture and style, wrapped in a vibrant 1970s retro theme.

With a record-breaking crowd of over 350 international students participating, the evening marked APLC’s largest intake to date, underscoring its growing reputation as a global leader in immersive English learning.

Inspired by the fearless energy of the 1970s, the auditorium pulsed with colour, music and movement. Students channelled the era with bold fashion, groovy beats and electrifying confidence.

Beneath the sparkle, however, lay something even more powerful — genuine communication, personal growth, and the fearless application of English in a live, high-pressure setting.

True to APLC’s innovative approach, the event transformed the runway into a stage for public speaking, collaboration and cultural exchange.

Every participant wasn’t simply showcasing style; they were demonstrating courage, fluency and the ability to command an audience in English.

Weeks of preparation — guided entirely in English — saw students engaged in rehearsals, speech coaching and peer-to-peer collaboration.

Celebrity Mentorship and Show-Stopping Moments

Adding star quality to the evening, special guest Ms Malveen Kaur, Miss Universe Malaysia 2025 finalist, took on a dual role as lead judge and catwalk mentor.

She conducted exclusive workshops to coach contestants on confidence, poise and presence, before delivering her own captivating runway performance that drew thunderous applause.

Her mentorship encouraged students to be bold, expressive and unafraid in the spotlight.

Celebrating Talent and Diversity

After a night of inspiring performances, the crowns went to Abdukarimov Arsen of Kazakhstan (Mr APLC 2025) and Ryu Sejeong of South Korea (Ms APLC 2025).

Both impressed the judging panel with their eloquence, authenticity and ability to engage a full-house audience.

The show also featured student-led cultural performances, class showcases, and an outpouring of peer support, creating a festival-like atmosphere that celebrated the unifying power of language and diversity.

More Than Entertainment — A Learning Milestone

Mr & Ms APLC 2025 was more than a night of entertainment; it was an embodiment of APLC’s mission to make English learning enjoyable, relevant and empowering.

It proved that language acquisition thrives not just in classrooms, but in vibrant, real-world scenarios that ignite passion and confidence.

As Ms Sharen Kaur, Senior Manager of APLC, reflected: “When students step onto that stage, they are not just performing — they are owning the language, owning their moment, and inspiring others to do the same. That is the true victory we celebrate.”
