The School of Computing (SoC) at Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) organised an enriching industrial visit to Juris Technologies (JurisTech) on 24 July 2025, providing students with a first-hand look into the dynamic world of financial technology.

JurisTech, a home-grown fintech leader, is renowned for its award-winning credit management systems that serve some of Malaysia’s most prominent banks. The company’s innovative solutions have made it a trusted partner in advancing digital transformation within the financial services sector.
Guided by SoC Lecturer Ms Thavamalini Sivasamy, the visit was designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world application, exposing students to industry trends while offering valuable insights into future career pathways.
Inside JurisTech: Culture, Careers and Innovation

The visit brought together 20 enthusiastic students, all of whom were warmly received by JurisTech’s HR team. Leading the engagement was Ms Elizabeth Lim, Recruitment Team Lead at JurisTech, who offered a compelling introduction to the company’s unique culture and career opportunities during an office tour.
Ms Elizabeth introduced the students to JurisTech’s GECO culture, an acronym for its guiding principles: Growing Heroes, Making Excellence Happen, Customer First, and Opening Up. She emphasised the importance of these values in fostering innovation and collaboration across teams.
Delving deeper into roles within the fintech ecosystem, she highlighted the pivotal role of business analysts in translating client requirements into actionable, tech-driven solutions.
Ms Elizabeth also underscored the versatility of software engineers, noting their adaptability across functions such as database administration and front-end development, enabling them to adapt and thrive in diverse technical environments.
Learning Through Engagement: The Riddle Rally

To make the experience interactive, JurisTech introduced an engaging team activity called the “Riddle Rally”. Students worked in teams armed with a company map and a set of clues, tasked to uncover key information about JurisTech’s product units.
This gamified challenge not only energised the session but also deepened students’ understanding of the company’s role in digitising the credit management lifecycle.
Words of Wisdom from JurisTech Leadership

The highlight of the visit was an inspiring session with JurisTech’s Chief Operating Officer, Mr Naaman Lee, who shared candid insights on career preparation. Stressing the importance of academic excellence, he pointed out that a student’s CGPA remains a key indicator for employers when assessing resumes, as it reflects both discipline and a strong sense of responsibility.
Mr Naaman also urged students to embrace their university years as a time for both academic and personal growth. By actively engaging in their academic and professional interests, students can cultivate the confidence and competence needed to thrive in the evolving demands of the workplace.
Student Perspectives: A Spark for the Future
The visit left a strong impression on participating students, who expressed renewed motivation and clarity about their career aspirations.
“I was truly inspired by how JurisTech integrates innovation and technology to tackle real-world financial challenges. It gave me a clearer direction for my future,” said Al Faruk Md Omor Sajeeb, a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Computer Science student.
His course mate, Saria Abdulsalam Ali Yagoub, added, “Hearing from professionals was an eye-opener. Their passion for problem-solving and continuous learning motivated me to sharpen my skills.”
Dibyajoti Roy, a Data Analytics student, shared, “I gained valuable insights into agile practices and how collaboration between tech and business teams drives success in fintech development.”
Strengthening Industry-Academia Ties

As the visit concluded, Ms Thavamalini expressed her gratitude to JurisTech for their hospitality and generosity in sharing knowledge.
“This visit reflects SoC’s unwavering commitment to industry engagement and experiential learning. By exposing students to real-world practices, we empower them with the confidence and skills to excel in today’s digital economy,” she noted.
The experience not only sparked curiosity and innovation among APU students but also reinforced the importance of bridging academic learning with industry realities—preparing future graduates for impactful careers in the ever-evolving fintech sector.
