The Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (“APU”) continues to make bold strides in immersive technology education through a new strategic collaboration with Solution EngiVerse Sdn. Bhd. (SOLUTION), a second-tier subsidiary of Solution Group Berhad.
This landmark partnership was formalised on 3 July 2025 with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at APU’s state-of-the-art campus in Technology Park Malaysia, Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur.

Enhancing XR Integration in Engineering

The partnership is a significant step forward in the integration of Extended Reality (“XR”) technologies within engineering education, skills training, and applied research.
The collaboration aims to combine APU’s academic and research expertise with SOLUTION’s industrial experience in designing and developing virtual engineering education tools.
Together, the two parties are poised to create a dynamic ecosystem that enhances the application of XR in real-world learning and innovation settings.
Empowering Students through Research, Internships and Industry Exposure
“This collaboration will focus on research and consultancy in XR technologies, practical applications through undergraduate final year projects and internships, and knowledge-sharing initiatives such as industry talks and mentorship programmes,” said Ts Dr Siti Azreena Binti Mubin, XR Studio Lead at APU.
Under the MoU, APU will offer academic guidance, technical expertise, and access to its cutting-edge XR Studio facilities. In turn, SOLUTION will provide industry insights, technological support, and opportunities for hands-on project development.
Industry Support for XR-Based Learning Environments
Dato’ Dr. Mohd Nazlee Kamal, Group Chief Executive Officer of Solution Group Berhad, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “We are excited to collaborate with APU in nurturing talent and co-developing technological solutions that will shape the future of XR-based learning environments.”
By harnessing the strengths of both academia and industry, the collaboration aims to make XR-driven learning tools more accessible and impactful, supporting Malaysia’s broader goals of digital transformation in education and technology.
Strengthening the Academia-Industry Nexus

Speaking on behalf of APU, Professor Dr Ho Chin Kuan, Vice-Chancellor of APU, highlighted the broader impact of the collaboration:
“This MoU reflects our mutual commitment to bridging the gap between academia and industry. Together, we aim to equip students with future-ready skills while also driving innovation in computing and engineering education.”
This collaboration not only enhances the student learning experience but also opens new avenues for cross-disciplinary innovation and co-development of solutions relevant to current and emerging industry needs.
Long-Term Vision for Innovation and Commercialisation

The MoU will remain in effect for three years, laying a strong foundation for long-term collaboration. Future plans include the development of joint intellectual property, applied research projects, and commercialisation opportunities that benefit both parties and contribute to the national innovation landscape.
With this alliance, APU and SOLUTION signal a shared vision for a tech-savvy future—one where immersive technologies like XR transform the way engineering is taught, learned, and applied.
