APU Strengthens Ties with India’s Leading Media Skills Institution

Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) has taken a significant step in fostering global academic and industry collaboration by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Media & Entertainment Skills Council (MESC) of India

The landmark MoU, signed on 12 February 2025, marks the beginning of a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing educational exchange and skill development in the media and entertainment sector. 

The signing ceremony took place virtually, with APU’s delegation set at its campus in Technology Park Malaysia, Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur. 

The agreement was signed by Professor Dr Ho Chin Kuan, Vice-Chancellor of APU, and Ms Pooja Arora, Chief Operating Officer of MESC, in the presence of representatives from both institutions, including:

  • Ms Debbie Liew Pooi Kuan, Head of the School of Media, Arts and Design (SoMAD), APU;
  • Mr Edwin Pio Rufus Samiraj, Academic Leader (SoMAD), APU;
  • Mr Vikram Singh, Lecturer (SoMAD), APU;
  • Dr Mohit Soni, Chief Executive Officer at MESC;
  • Ms Roshni Sehgal, Head of Business Development and International Alliances at MESC;
  • Ms Shivani Singh, Business Development Executive at MESC.


Key Objectives of the MoU

The agreement was signed virtually, with representatives from both institutions in attendance.


The agreement formalises a collaboration between APU and MESC, aimed at developing a globally competitive workforce by integrating academic knowledge with industry expertise. The key focus areas include:

  • Student Mobility Programmes – Facilitating exchange opportunities for students to experience different media landscapes, technologies, and industry practices in both Malaysia and India.
  • Faculty Exchange Initiatives – Encouraging knowledge sharing between APU and MESC experts through guest lectures, workshops, and collaborative teaching.
  • Collaborative Research & Development – Conducting joint research projects on emerging trends in media, entertainment, and digital content creation.
  • Industry Exposure & Internships – Providing hands-on experience through internships, studio visits, and industry networking events.
  • Joint Certification & Training Programmes – Designing and implementing training modules and certification programs to enhance industry-relevant skills.

The partnership between APU and MESC is facilitated through advancements in video conferencing software, strengthening ties between Malaysia and India.


This strategic partnership aligns with APU’s vision of producing industry-ready graduates by offering students exposure to cutting-edge global practices. 

By leveraging India’s expertise in media and entertainment education and APU’s strengths in technology-driven learning, the collaboration will empower students with practical skills, international insights, and career opportunities in the evolving digital landscape. 

Through this MoU, APU reaffirms its commitment to fostering international collaborations that bridge the gap between academia and industry, ensuring students gain the necessary competencies to thrive in the global media and entertainment industry. 

This partnership sets the stage for future collaborations in content creation, animation, VFX, and emerging digital technologies, benefiting students, faculty, and industry stakeholders alike.
