Blockchain technology continues to redefine the digital economy by enabling secure, decentralised platforms for asset tracking and exchange. In alignment with this cutting-edge evolution, 11 students from the Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) recently embarked on an enriching experiential learning visit to Masverse Sdn. Bhd., a pioneering Malaysian blockchain company.

On 7 March, the students—enrolled in the Digital Currencies and Blockchain modules—were led to Masverse’s corporate office in Setia Walk, Pusat Bandar Puchong. The objective was to gain firsthand insight into the applications, infrastructure, and business model of Masverse’s proprietary Layer 1 blockchain platform.
Accompanied by two senior lecturers, Dr Ng Hui Chen and Dr Meera Eeswaran from the School of Accounting and Finance (SoAF), the students were introduced to the real-world workings of blockchain systems.
Inside Masverse: Where Technology Meets Purpose

The session was helmed by Dr Suresh Naidu, Director of Communication & Innovation at Masverse. His presentation provided a comprehensive overview of the company's blockchain platform, highlighting its technical architecture and diverse real-world use cases. These included digital identity verification, secure payment disbursement systems, and smart contract implementation—each offering a window into how blockchain is reshaping traditional systems in Malaysia.
A key highlight of the session was Masverse’s business model, which integrates blockchain technology across multiple sectors, from education to finance. Of particular relevance to the visiting students was Masverse’s strategic partnership with APU, wherein the university uses Masverse’s platform to verify and list student credentials. This live, practical application offered a meaningful connection between academic theory and industry practice.
Empowering the Next Generation of Blockchain Professionals
The visit served as a platform for dynamic knowledge exchange. During an engaging Q&A session, students took the opportunity to interact directly with Dr Suresh and his team, exploring emerging trends, adoption barriers, and the evolving role of blockchain in the digital economy.
This real-world exposure is not merely observational. As part of their summative assessment, the students are required to develop a case study report based on Masverse’s operational model and technological implementation. This project underscores APU’s commitment to integrating industry experiences into academic evaluation, ensuring that students are not only informed but industry-ready.
Academia and Industry: A Powerful Partnership

The field trip to Masverse exemplifies APU’s vision of bridging the gap between academia and industry. By embedding practical exposure within the curriculum, the university is equipping its students with the skills, insights, and mindset needed to thrive in the rapidly evolving digital economy.
The visit also reaffirmed the crucial role of partnerships in higher education. Through ongoing collaborations with forward-thinking enterprises like Masverse, APU continues to nurture future professionals who are not only tech-savvy but also innovation-ready.
In sum, the experiential learning at Masverse was more than a field trip—it was a stepping stone towards impactful careers in blockchain and beyond.
