Dear Students,

We hope that you are keeping well.

The Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) has announced on 09 July 2021 that students from higher educational institutions are allowed to return to their respective hometown effective from 12 July 2021, subject to the following conditions:

(i) NO travelling/movement is allowed from or into area(s) under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO). Travelling will only be allowed after the EMCO is lifted. For your information, APU is NOT located within an EMCO area.

(ii) This travel permission permits ONE-WAY movement only, i.e. students travelling from campus to their respective hometown. Students who have returned to their respective hometowns will not be allowed to travel back to their campus until further advice from the MOHE;

(iii) This travelling permission is STRICTLY for students to return to their respective hometowns only. Students are not allowed to travel for the purpose of visiting family members/relatives/friends residing in other districts/states;

(iv) Students may travel back to their respective hometowns via the following travelling mode:

  • a. Driving own vehicle, with a maximum of 2 passengers in one vehicle – Both students must be from the same higher educational institution (safe bubble) returning to the same hometown. Students travelling using their own vehicles must obtain a permission letter from APU – click HERE
  • b. No public transport (including Grab, taxi, or any form of hired vehicles) are allowed except for flights within Peninsula Malaysia, Labuan, Sabah and Sarawak.
  • c. Students returning to Sabah/Sarawak/Labuan are required to undergo a compulsory PCR swab, THREE (3) days before their departure flight. Upon arriving at their flight destination, the students will have to be quarantined for a minimum period of ten (10) days in a quarantine centre and four (4) days in their own home.
  • d. Student(s) returning to Perlis will be required  to self-quarantine in their homes upon arrival.
  • e. Parents/Guardians are NOT allowed to travel inter-district or inter-state for the purpose of picking up student(s) or collect belongings from campus.
  • f. For students without their personal transportation, APU is presently considering the possibility of making arrangements for University buses for these students return to their hometowns. This APU bus arrangement may be made subject to a minimum number of students requiring transportation. The possible drop-off point(s) are at after the EXIT Toll Plazas of the northbound and southbound routes of the North-South Highway and after the EXIT toll of the Karak Highway to Kuantan (for East-bound students). Students will then need to make arrangements for their parents/guardians to pick them up at the designated drop-off points.
  • g. In order for us to be able to assess the feasibility of making these transport arrangements (including to KLIA or Subang Airport), students requiring transportation to return home are required to provide their information at the following link – click HERE, latest by Friday 16th July 2021.
Please note once again that our final decision on transportation arrangements is dependent on the feasibility in terms of the number of students in each route (North, South and East). As such, please provide accurate information on a timely basis.

NOTE: Submission of falsified or misleading information is an offence under Malaysian law and offender may be subjected to legal action by government authorities.

Dear Students,

The Prime Minister's Office has announced a three-phase nationwide lockdown that will start with a "Total Lockdown" from Tuesday, 1st June 2021 to 14th June 2021.

Please note the following:

1. Online Learning will continue for all intakes. Hybrid classes is not permitted under the Lockdown SOPs until further notice. Please do engage with your Lecturers or Programme Leader via teams or by email should you face any difficulties with your online classes.

2. Students are not allowed to travel inter-state or inter-district during the Lockdown.

3. Administrative Services, Visa Services, Bursary & Students Services will remain closed at Campus from 1st June 2021 to 14th June 2021. However, full support and advise will be available for all students through online channels.

4. For Students who are staying at APU Accommodation, please note the following:

  • Modesto and Picante will be operational for take away during the lock down. Picante and our convenience shop will close at 8pm daily. We therefore encourage you to make your purchases by 7:45pm.
  • Clinic Oceana @ APU campus will be opened as usual from Mon-Fri between 9.00am to 5.00pm, throughout the Lockdown period, except public holidays.
  • There is no need to resort to any panic buying to stock up on groceries as food items will be available throughout lock down period from the usual retail outlets.
  • Please avoid leaving the campus and your accommodation unless it is absolutely very essential. No one should be outside after 8pm – the authorities will be making their rounds to check on this regularly, so please do comply with this at all times during the lockdown.
  • No sporting/gym activities are allowed throughout Lockdown.
  • Please observe the SOPs including the wearing of face masks at ALL times, physical distancing, frequent sanitizing and hand washing in our fight against this infectious disease, to curb and to eliminate its spread.
  • Do not participate in any social gatherings even to visit your friends or relatives, or travel in groups – do stay indoors and stay safe.
  • Do reach out to your accommodation wardens should you require any assistance.

Please stay safe and practice good hygiene and take all necessary precautions to minimise the risk of infection. While we truly understand the difficulties and inconveniences that you may face in adhering to the lockdown SOPs, please take note of the seriousness of the situation.

COVID-19 UPDATE: IMPLEMENTATION OF THE NATION-WIDE MOVEMENT CONTROL ORDER (MCO) EFFECTIVE MAY 12, 2021 TO JUNE 7, 2021

Dear Students,

On May 10, 2021, the Prime Minister of Malaysia had announced the implementation of the ‘Movement Control Order’ for the entire nation from Wednesday, 12 May 2021 till Monday, 7 June 2021.

APU is committed to supporting the government’s efforts to contain and prevent the spread of Covid-19 and in this respect will adhere to directives from the Government and the Ministry of Higher Education on this matter.

Please note the following:

  1. Online Learning will continue for all intakes.
  2. Hybrid classes will not be scheduled until further notice.
  3. Malaysian students who have been given permission by the University to return to their hometown for the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration will be allowed to return to their accommodation in the Klang Valley based on the specific date mentioned in the approval letter. Students are requested to self-isolate upon return and self-attend classes online from their accommodation and restrict their movement.
  4. Library & Laboratories will remain open.
  5. Sports & Gym facilities on campus will be closed during the MCO, in compliance with SOPs issued by the authorities.
  6. Administrative Services, Visa Services, Bursary & Students Services will remain open from 10 AM to 4 PM. If you need to visit the campus for these services, please make an appointment at HERE.


Please adhere to the SOPs published. Please stay safe and practice good hygiene and take all necessary precautions to minimise the risk of infection.
