APU Students Leading the Charge on Food Security & Sustainability

 
In a remarkable display of community spirit and environmental stewardship, Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) students joined hands with The Lost Food Project to tackle the pressing issue of food waste through the “Sustainable Future Fusion” initiative on 29th May 2024.

Aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 12 (SDG 12) on ensuring sustainable consumption and production patterns, APU students enthusiastically volunteered their time to sort surplus food items, aiming to prevent edible food from being wasted in landfills by redirecting it to support B40 communities in need, thus fostering a sustainable and equitable approach to food distribution.
 
 
Under the guidance of Dr Stephen Poon Tai Fook (Senior Lecturer, School of Business at APU), students enthusiastically sorted through diverse food items, from fresh produce to packaged goods, showcasing the impactful results of collective action in combating food waste.
 

Throughout the day, students collaborated tirelessly with Dr Poon and the dedicated volunteers from The Lost Food Project, showcasing a unified dedication to effecting positive change.
 
Reflecting on their contributions, students expressed profound satisfaction in knowing they had made a meaningful difference, underscoring the power of collaboration and goodwill in fostering a brighter, more compassionate community.

Dr Poon commended the students for their unwavering dedication and exceptional commitment to forging a sustainable future, a sentiment echoed throughout the “Sustainable Future Fusion” initiative.
