Maths Carnival Ended with Success Despite Challenges​​

To cultivate the students’ interest in mathematics, the School of Mathematics, Actuarial and Quantitative Studies (SOMAQS) recently organized an eMaths Carnival. In line with the latest developments of the COVID-19 pandemic, the School took the entire carnival online, in which it was broadcasted on APU social media channels & Microsoft Teams.

The carnival encompassed 4 virtual competitions: Math Merrills, Math Magicians, Mathletes, and Murder Mystery. Over 700 students took part in the virtual carnival, in which they were exposed to the ‘other side’ of Mathematics – we’ve proven to them that maths doesn’t have to be boring, after all! Participants enjoyed the competitions; it was indeed an innovative approach when it comes to enhancing the teaching & learning experience in line with our direction for blended & online learning moving forward.
