8th Consecutive Year Of IEM Gold Medal Awards For APU Engineering Students
Leong Khai Yuann, a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical & Electronic Engineering with Honours degree student, was awarded a Gold Medal for Outstanding Academic Achievement by the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) – making him the eighth consecutive winner. The award was presented at the IEM annual dinner and awards night held on 23rd July.
IEM recognises students' outstanding and remarkable academic performance in undergraduate studies, supported by extra co-curricular achievement, with the necessary prerequisite of registering with IEM as student members.
IEM Gold Medal Awards are one of the most acclaimed merit yearly presented to the best engineering students in local universities which offer accredited Engineering Degree Programmes. “Our continuous success is a testament to our high quality of Teaching & Learning at the School of Engineering,” affirmed Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Siva Kumar Sivanesan, School of Engineering Head, APU.
Leong, 24, from SMK Damansara Utama, was born in Petaling Jaya, Selangor. He undertook a Diploma in Electrical Engineering at APU in 2017 and continued with the Bachelor in Electrical and Electronic Degree programme two years later. He managed to secure an outstanding CGPA of 3.85 for his degree study.
“Take care of yourselves physically and mentally first and foremost, never stop learning and asking questions, and be decisive and confident when opportunities arise.” This is the advice he gives to his juniors and those who are pursuing their tertiary degrees.
